University of Wisconsin-Richland is celebrating its 50th anniversary with an appearance by humorist and best-selling author Michael Perry, whose column Roughneck Grace appears each Sunday in the Wisconsin State Journal.

Perry will “grace” the Coppertop Theatre stage on campus beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 16. He will discuss humorous and heartfelt stories based on his life in rural Wisconsin and the event will be so special that he plans to wear a clean shirt. Well, a shirt anyway!

A reception and book sale/signing will be held following Perry’s discussion of “Sneezing Cows, Tents and the Back Forty.”

Admission to the event is free.

Area residents may be familiar with Perry from previous campus talks on his books, which include “Population: 485” and “Truck: A Love Story.” Perry has also been on stage during some of Big Top Chautauqua’s Richland Center performances, both as a humorist and as a guitarist.

Extend your visit by taking a tour of the campus. Tours begin at the close of Perry’s performance and will leave the Roadrunner Café every 30 minutes.

The event is sponsored by the Richland County Campus Foundation. p.p1 {margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; text-align: justify; text-indent: 9.0px; line-height: 11.0px; font: 10.0px Times}
