PLATTEVILLE — A fugitive sought by police for two weeks was arrested in Platteville Sunday afternoon.

Derek A. Eastlick was arrested while police were investigating a battery report on the 300 block of West Adams Street Sunday morning.

According to police, Eastlick was found in the house while the investigation was taking place. Police obtained a search warrant, but then Eastlick jumped out of a window of the house and ran. Police then arrested Eastlick.

Police also set up a perimeter with area police tactical squad members, Grant, Lafayette and Iowa county deputies and UW–Platteville and Dubuque police. Two people were taken out of the house, then the house was secured after tactical officers entered, detonating a flash-bang grenade.

Platteville firefighters and Southwest Health EMS assisted at the scene. Adams Street was blocked off for four hours.

Eastlick had escaped police who were trying to arrest him on outstanding warrants July 9.

Police are still investigating the battery incident.
