Arrows shoot down ‘Birds in playoff opener
DARLINGTON – Lancaster guard Nathan Tranel scored 11 of his game-high 19 points in the third quarter, including six during an 11-0 run to open the second half, to lift the #9-seeded Flying Arrows over #8-seed Darlington, 57-45, in a WIAA Division 4 regional quarterfinal boys' basketball game held at DHS on Tuesday, Feb. 19.
Lady Redbirds end season on a winning note
DARLINGTON – The Darlington girls' basketball team will head into the tournament riding a two-game winning streak after taking care of Southwestern, 53-37, in their SWAL finale at DHS on Thursday, Feb. 21.

LANCASTER – Black Hawk sophomore Colin Novak was one of the few wrestlers without the name Lancaster, Mineral Point or Iowa-Grant/Highland written across the front of a singlet to advance to sectionals after finishing second in the 113-pound weight class at the WIAA Division 3 Regional Meet held at Lancaster High School on Saturday, Feb. 9.

MINERAL POINT – Darlington senior Cassidy Chambers scored the 1,000-point of her career on Friday night, but she would have liked to have had her Redbirds pick up the win instead.

RICHLAND CENTER - Iowa–Grant season Ben McFall fulfilled the first of his season-long goals Saturday by winning the 285-pound individual conference title at the annual SWAL/SWC Clash.

PLATTEVILLE – Riverdale erased a seven-point halftime lead by outscoring Darlington by a 19-3 margin in the third quarter, and the Chieftains held off a late push to sink the Redbirds, 50-46, at the seventh annual SWAL Basketball Jamboree held at UW-Platteville's Bo Ryan Court in the Williams Fieldhouse on Saturday, Jan. 12.

BOSCOBEL – Darlingon sophomore Jason Singer fired a five-inning no hitter with seven strikeouts and he helped his own cause by driving in four runs as the Redbirds opened SWAL play with a 13-1 victory over the Boscobel Bulldogs on Tuesday, April 16.
