Shullsburg’s shot at state off the mark

RICHLAND CENTER – Shullsburg's shot at their school's first state tournament appearance in 21 years fell just off the mark as the #5-ranked Lady Miners shot an icy 18-for-67 from the field in a 63-49 loss to #4-ranked Bangor in a WIAA Division 5 sectional final girls' basketball game at Richland Center High School on Saturday, March 4.

BENTON– Things started off well for the Belmont Braves boys' basketball team in their Six Rivers West season finale, however the Braves could not hold onto an early double digit lead as they finished winless in the regular season after suffering a 85-62 loss to the host Benton Zephyrs on Thursday, Feb. 23.

SHULLSBURG – A big night for junior center Brianna Leahy became a big night for the Shullsburg girls' basketball program as the #5-ranked and top-seeded Lady Miners hoisted up a WIAA Division 5 regional championship title after rolling over the #4-seeded Benton Zephyrs, 55-40, at SHS on Saturday, Feb. 25.

SOUTH WAYNE – The season came to a too abrupt finish for the top-seeded and #2-ranked Black Hawk Warriors girls' basketball team after falling 67-62 in overtime to #4-seed Fall River in a WIAA Division 5 regional final game held at Black Hawk High School on Saturday, Feb. 25.

Cassville's Wheeler takes fifth at state

MADISON – After going 14-11 a year ago and finishing his sophomore season with a first-round loss in the sectional meet, Cassville's Ben Wheeler put together a fine junior season for himself that ended on the medal stand this past Saturday night in the Kohl Center.
