Riverdale to seek voter approval to exceed revenue cap

In a unanimous vote, the Riverdale School Board approved pursuing a non-recurring, five-year operational referendum on the spring ballot. If approved by voters, the referendum will allow the school district to exceed the state imposed revenue limit by $600,000 each year.

The Boscobel School Board approved the school calendar for 2017-2018 as recommended by the district's calendar committee Tuesday night.

Crowd gathers to save DHS librarian position

The room was full at the Darlington Community School's Board of Education meeting, Monday, Dec. 19, hoping to convince the board to keep the District Social Media/DHS Library Assistant position. The board has posted the position for several months and do have applicants. This position was cut to save money when the referendum failed. The board had to decide whether to bring the position back during second semester or wait until next school year. The position is in the budget.

Track and Field records being sold

At the Darlington School Board meeting on Monday, Dec. 5, the school board members discussed selling the track and field records on the current board. The records will be sold to the individuals and/or family members of those record holders for $50. The funds will be used to offset the new replacement board.

Signage for auditorium discussed

Board members on the Darlington School Board discussed on where to put a sign for the high school auditorium and what it would look like. The school board approved having the auditorium named Leona M. Havens Theatre in May 2016. The Pop Factory Players said they would be donating the signage for the theatre. They came to the board asking if they would like a sign to be inside the building or outside.

Report card shows Boscobel Schools ‘Exceed Expectations’

It was good news for the Boscobel School District with the recent release of the K-12 school and district report cards by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. The report card shows a 2015-2016 school year overall score for the district of 76.3, which is an "Exceeds Expectation" score.
