Closed session resolves MHLC lawsuit issues

DARLINGTON – The Lafayette County Board of Supervisors met during an afternoon meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 7 to determine a settlement agreement between the manor and a former employee and between Freeport Regional Healthcare Foundation, Family Health of Lafayette County, Dr. Martin Cleary and Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County.

Manor agrees to mystery settlement, addresses refill

DARLINGTON - The Lafayette Manor Committee meeting, held Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2017, began with closed session. Coming out of closed session the committee approved a motion "to agree to the settlement that was discussed in closed session". When asked whom the settlement was with or how much the settlement was, Larry Ludlum, committee chair, said, "We don't have to tell you." Julie Chikowski, Manor and Hospital Administrator said, "I believe it falls under lawyer – client privilege. It will be going to county board."

McCoy passes economic hurdle

SHULLSBURG - At the Shullsburg City Council meeting Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2017, Gary Peterson, AICP (certified planner) prepared and presented a report dealing with the costs associated with the McCoy Development. According to Peterson, of the projected $1,306,070 in project costs, 100% are eligible to be paid for by the current TID#7.

MHLC settles Cleary lawsuit

LAFAYETTE COUNTY - The Lafayette County Hospital Committee came out of closed session at their Thursday, Jan. 12, 2017 meeting and approved Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County (MHLC) funding $100,000 to settle the Dr. Cleary non-compete lawsuit with FHN Memorial Hospital, Freeport, Ill. No other information was offered at the meeting.

Riverway Board backs registration fee for canoeists

The time before and after the meeting of the Lower Wisconsin State Riverway Board meeting on Thursday, Jan. 12 was filled with the usual grumbling discussion of winter cold and the careful mincing steps needed to navigate the ice still tenaciously clinging to sidewalk and parking lot, but inside the meeting, these conditions were met with welcome. What is making life treacherous for commuters and town shoppers is ideal for the DNR foresters working to control invasive woody plants in our natural areas.
