RCHS alum donates to Warehouse restoration

Sally (Giese) Knight, RCHS Class of '67 and Jane Nee, RCHS Class of '67, recently paid a visit to the A.D. German Warehouse for a tour. Sally presented the A.D. German Warehouse Conservancy, Inc. (ADGWC) with a gift of $10,000 to be used in the restoration of the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed building. Both classmates appreciate the building's history and the future benefits it will provide to the economic development of Richland Center's downtown area and want to be involved.

Alliant updates substations

Erecting poles on the west side of Darlington, south of Hwy. 81. A crew from American Transmission Co. is setting up poles to connect the new Wisconsin Power and Light Company owned Red Bird Substation to the grid. The substation is seen to the left in this photo and represents a $3.1 million investment. According to Scott Reigstad of Alliant Energy, the station has been built to provide better reliability for customers and to allow for anticipated future electric growth in the area. Workers were working hard in the cold weather on Tuesday, March 14, putting together another meterological tower, a part of the Quilt Block Wind Farm. This tower is located on land owned by Dan Kamps, on HWY 81, near Pleasant View Rd. In order to put the tower together, a helicopter was needed to place each piece.
