Driver Opera signs contract, work beginning soon

DARLINGTON – Members of the Driver Opera House Board of Directors signed a contract with Joe Daniels Construction Co., Inc. to begin work on the Driver Opera House's first floor flood proofing with a winning bid of $1,425,825. The Driver Opera House also has a grant from the Wisconsin DNR for $555,000 to help fund the flood proofing phase of the project. Driver Opera House awarded $540,000 grant

DARLINGTON - After applying for the flood proofing grant about eight or nine years ago, but having to postpone because the funds were not there, the DNR was able to approve those plans for the Driver Opera House. The grant will help protect the building against floods without harming its historical structure.
