HAZEL GREEN — Fennimore junior guard Reid Larson scored a game-high 23 points in Fennimore’s 67–46 Southwest Wisconsin Activities League road win at Southwestern Friday night.

In the process, he became just the fifth player in school history to score more than 1,000 points in his career.

“This is quite an accomplishment for Reid doing it halfway through his junior year,” said Fennimore head coach Tom Needham. “Reid works very hard and the game and is a much deserved honor.”

Fennimore (13–1, 6–1 SWAL) used a late run near the end of the first half to build a 35–23 halftime lead.

“Southwestern is a very scrappy team that we knew we were going to have to play well to beat, especially at their place,” said Needham. “We went on a spurt late in the first half, which was spurred by our defense and had a 12-point lead at half. In the second half, our defense got some turnovers and go the lead to around 20, where it stayed most of the game.”

Brothers Liam and Kellen Kenney each scored 15 points in the win. Liam added four assists and two steals. Kellen pulled down six boards and had three steals.

Monday night, Larson added to his scoring total with a 25-point outburst in an 83–74 non-conference victory over visiting Fennimore.

Kellen Kenney added 23 points, seven rebounds, four assists and four steals to help overcome a 25-point effort, which included seven 3-pointers, by Lancaster sophomore guard Dawson Bowen.

Larson currently has 1,029 career points, which is fifth on Fennimore’s all-time scoring list behind uncle Kevin Larson (1983–87) 1,547, Kevin Carp (1994–98) 1,383, Jim Rosemeyer (1981–85) 1,236, and Dave Rosemeyer (1979–83) 1,123.

Govier scores career-high 24 in win over Boscobel

Last Tuesday, senior Dakota Govier scored a career-high 24 points and grabbed nine rebounds in a 88–59 victory over visiting Boscobel (1–11, 0–5).

Larson scored 17 points and had three steals, and Kellen Kenney had a double–double of 12 points and 10 rebounds in a game that was never close.

Fennimore led 40–20 at the half and kept piling it on in the final 18 minutes.

Larson pours in career-high 30, Kenney posts triple–double in win over Riverdale

Larson connected on 6 of 9 from 3-point land and scored a career-high 30 points in Fennimore’s dominating 90–40 win over Riverdale last Thursday.

Kellen Kenney recorded his first career triple–double of 14 points, 15 assists and 11 rebounds, and freshman Adam Larson added 15 points in the 50-point win over the struggling, winless Chieftains (0–11, 0–6).

“Defensively, we put alot of pressure on their guards and we got some turnovers early that we were able to convert into some easy baskets,” said Needham. “Offensively, we shot the ball pretty well and everyone got involved offensively which was nice.”

The Golden Eagles made 11 of 21 3-pointers in the game and shot 64.8 percent (35 of 54) from the field for the game.

NEXT: Fennimore will travel to Iowa–Grant (3–9, 2–4) tonight. The first-place Golden Eagles will then host Mineral Point (9–4, 5–1) in a key SWAL showdown Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. The Pointers, who are coming off an 86–73 win over Cuba City, handed Fennimore its only loss of the season back on Dec. 14, 96–75.
