STOUGHTON — Platteville’s Dan Iselin is heading back to the WIAA Division 2 boys state swim meet.
Iselin earned his second straight trip to state with a pair of sixth-place finishes at Saturday’s WIAA D2 Stoughton sectional.

Iselin, who placed 12th in the 100-yard backstroke at last year’s state meet, again qualified in the event and also qualified in the 100-yard butterfly.

The Platteville senior finished sixth in the 100 fly with a time of 56.62. Four events later, he came back and finished sixth in the 100 backstroke with a season-best time of 57.62.

"Dan deserves his return to state not only because he is a hard-working, talented young man, but because he has been an amazing teammate and leader throughout his high school career," said Hillmen head coach Elissa Bahr. "I am very proud of him and what he has been able to accomplish this season."

Iselin enters Friday’s D2 State Championships seeded 15th (out of 16) in the 100 fly and 13th in the 100 backstroke. The D2 state meet will be held at the UW Natatorium in Madison Friday beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Iselin was also on Platteville/Lancaster’s 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relay at Saturday’s Stoughton sectional. Iselin teamed with senior Nick Demaree, junior Connor Feyen and sophomore Tyler Moss to sixth-place in the 200 freestyle relay with a season-best time of 1:36.45.

Iselin, Demaree, Feyen and junior Michael Prestegard swam to an eighth-place finish in the 200 medley relay with a season-best time of 1:49.23.

The 400 free relay of Moss, Prestegard, and juniors Brendan Weber and Patrick Haas finished 10th with a time of 3:59.04.

Demaree placed 10th in the 100 fly (1:00.25) and 14th in the 200 freestyle (2:00.94). Prestegard finished 15th in the 200 individual medley (2:25.91) and Feyen placed 15th in the 100 backstroke (1:13.97).

Coach Bahr’s Platteville/Lancaster Hillmen scored 102 points and placed ninth out of 11 teams.

"I didn't know what to expect on Saturday because the guys had already dropped so much time at the conference meet just a week earlier," added Bahr. "I had questions like, 'Can they drop any more time?' Well, I am happy to say that they did. The guys swam very well on Saturday and many of them were able to shave off even more time!"

Two-time defending D2 state champion Monona Grove won the sectional team title with 413 points. 2014 D2 state champion Madison Edgewood finished a distant second  with 273 points and McFarland (243) placed third.
