PLATTEVILLE — The Platteville/Belmont/Lancaster gymnastics team posted a season-best score of 132.325 to finish second out of five teams at the Southwest Wisconsin Conference Championships Friday night at Platteville High School.

Led by all-around conference champion freshman Miah Lemanski (35.775), Dodgeville/Mineral Point won the conference title with a score of 135.9.

Platteville senior Grace Hammermeister finished third on the vault (8.75), third on the floor (9.15), fourth on the balance beam (8.6) and fifth in the all-around (34.250).

Lancaster junior Allison Stader posted a season-best score of 8.65 to place fifth on the vault. She also placed fifth on the beam (8.375) and vault (8.65) and sixth on the floor (8.725) and in the all-around (33.65).

Belmont freshman Lizzy Haag had a season-high score of 8.3 to place third on the bars.

The Hillmen return to action Thursday night at 5:30 p.m. at the WIAA Division 2 Mount Horeb Sectional. The top two teams and top five individuals in each event advance to next week’s WIAA state meet in Wisconsin Rapids. The Platteville/Belmont/Lancaster tri-op has qualified for the WIAA team state meet for the past seven years.

“The sectional meet should be very interesting,” said Hillmen head coach Jessica Hill. “Mount Horeb, if they perform at the level they have been will take first. PBL, Southwestern/Cuba City/Benton, Milton, Jefferson and Monona Grove all received scores in the same range. The team to go on will be the team that hits their routines on Thursday night in Mount Horeb.”
