LANCASTER — With another standout performance from senior Abby Kaiser and a number of complementary supporting efforts, the Potosi Chieftains swept five matches Saturday to win the six-team Lancaster Invitational.

Potosi beat eventual runner-up Black Hawk 25–17, 25–19 in the opener, then swept Viroqua 25–18, 25–21, Lancaster varsity reserve 25–17, 25–5, Kickapoo 25–20, 25–20 and host Lancaster Flying Arrows 25–18, 25–21 to complete a perfect day at the six-team event.

Kaiser led the Chieftains with 55 kills, 60 digs and 17 assists. She is now just seven kills shy of 1,000 for her career entering Thursday’s Six Rivers West match against visiting Benton (12–0, 4–0 SRW, ranked 9th in Division 4).

Senior Sophie Langkamp had a nice all-around day with 19 kills, 50 assists, 37 digs, a team-high nine blocks and six aces.

Grace Morgan slammed 16 kills and had four blocks. Senior Hannah Udelhoven passed out a team-best 65 assists, while junior Jaydn Noonan posted 11 kills and six aces. Sophomore Justice Udelhofen made 44 digs.

“The girls played solid and consistent volleyball all day,” said Potosi head coach Ric Walsh. “The defense is continuing to improve led by Sophie Langkamp with nine blocks and Abby Kaiser, Justice Udelhofen and Sophie leading the team in digs. Our setters moved the ball around and opened opportunities to many players. We were able to get many different players involved and proved to be a very successful day for all.”

Last Tuesday, Potosi suffered a 3–1 loss to undefeated River Ridge, which is ranked fifth in Division 4.

Despite a match-high 24 kills from Kaiser, a balanced effort led by Skylar White (17 kills) and Taylor Langmeier (16) led the Timberwolves to a 25–17, 19–25, 25–21, 25–20 victory.

Potosi bounced back with a 25–22, 25–17, 25–18 Six Rivers West sweep at Cassville Thursday night to improve to 3–1 in conference play.

Kaiser posted a double–double of 18 kills and 19 digs to go along with three blocks.

“The team, as a whole, gave a solid performance but at times had a lapse in focus, but still put out good effort,” said Walsh. “The second game the girls played more solid on offense and defense, which resulted in a win. Cassville continued to play solid, scrappy defense in every game.”

Potosi (10–3, 3–1) will host Benton Thursday night before hosting Belmont Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.
