LANCASTER — Belmont/Platteville’s 29-match conference losing streak will end sometime in the near future, but it won’t be this season.
The Braves closed out the 2017-18 regular season with a pair of Southwest Wisconsin Conference losses last week to finish the year 1-6 overall and 0-5 in the conference.
Senior Isaac Wiegel (33-3) notched his 150th career win in Belmont/Platteville’s 52-18 loss to visiting River Valley last Tuesday night.
Wiegel, who is ranked fourth in Division 2 at 120 pounds, pinned Valley’s Hayden Walsh in 3:48 at 120 to score one of the Braves three wins in the dual.
Freshman Riley Christianson pinned Hunter Alt at 182 pounds and senior Joshua Taber earned a pin over Caden Kueger at 160.
Wiegel earned Belmont/Platteville’s lone win, a third-period pin of Caleb Lucey, in a 73-6 SWC loss at Lancaster.
The Braves will compete at the annual SWAL-SWC Clash to be held at Mineral Point High School on Saturday, Feb. 3, starting at 9 a.m.
