Johnson Public Library Activities
DARLINGTON – The Johnson Public Library has many events for the public to enjoy. The events for February are: Feb. 3 - Story Hour 10 a.m.; Feb. 6 - Story ‘n’ Craft Hour 10 a.m.; Feb. 9 - Passport to Reading Book Club 3:30 p.m., for grades 1 & 2 (California); Feb. 10 - Story Hour 10 a.m./ Pages & Popcorn Book Club 1:30 p.m., for grades 6-8; Feb. 13 - Story ‘n’ Craft Hour 10 a.m.; Feb. 14 - Twilight Family Story Hour 6-8 p.m., for families with young children (Valentine’s!); Feb. 17 - Story Hour 10 a.m./ Book Buzz Book Club 1:30 p.m., for grades 3-5.
Food Pantry
DARLINGTON – The monthly Second Harvest Food Pantry will be held Friday, Feb. 3, 2017 from 4 to 5 p.m. The pantry is held in the lower level of Town Bank. There are no income requirements for people wishing to participate. Volunteers are needed from 3 to 6 p.m. Volunteers can come for part or all of the pantry to help. To volunteer you can contact Carrie at 608-293-0791 or simply come to the pantry to register as a volunteer the day of the event.
Darlington Legion Post 214 meeting
DARLINGTON – Darlington Post 214 Legion Members along with the Auxiliary and SAL will meet on Wednesday, Feb. 1 at the Legion Post.  All the meetings will begin at 7:00 p.m.  All members are urged to attend and find out what is going on with the American Legion at the National, State and local levels.  We will be discussing our new Web Site.  If you are a Veteran and you are interested in joining the Legion Family, you are welcomed to come to a meeting and get to know us.
Help Fight Hunger
BELMONT – The Belmont High School and Middle School Art Club are proud to host Belmont’s 3rd annual Empty Bowls Project on Tuesday, Feb. 7 from 5-7 p.m. in the Belmont Cafeteria. Guests will enjoy a delicious meal of soup, bread, and dessert. Guests also take home a handcrafted bowl made by a Belmont art student or community member. Proceeds will go to the Belmont Food Pantry and to the Belmont Art Club. Tickets are $10. Tickets can be purchased before the event in the High School office or at the door.
The 1990’s concert
SHULLSBURG – The Shullsburg Music Department and the Shullsburg Music Boosters presents ‘The 1990’s’ Thursday, Feb. 9 at 7 p.m. in “The Pit”. Dinner is served from 5:00 p.m.-6:30 p.m. in the Shullsburg Cafeteria with chef Mike Shannon. The meal is a choice of chicken Marengo over wild rice or beef stroganoff over rotini noodles. Tickets are $3 for bleacher seats, $5 for reserved floor seating (sold only in advance), $10 for dinner (sold only in advance) or $10 for dinner and a reserved seat on floor (sold only in advance). February Family Night
SHULLSBURG – Fall in love with Reading at the McCoy Public Library during their February Family Night on Feb. 8 from 6-7 p.m. or at the Gratiot library on Feb. 11 from 10-11 a.m. There will be Valentines Day crafts, games and a snack full of love! Registration forms are available at the McCoy Public Library. The event is for all ages through 5th grade. Be sure to bring the entire family to this event!
Steak and Chicken Supper
DARLINGTON – Darlington Post 214 will not hold a Steak and Chicken Supper in January. The next Steak and Chicken Supper for Darlington Post 214 will be held on Saturday, Feb. 11 at the Legion Post from 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Norwegian Dinner
WIOTA – Wiota Lutheran Youth Organization will be holding a Norwegian Dinner Feb. 12, 2017 from noon to 2 p.m. at Wiota Lutheran Church. The menu includes meatballs, ham, mashed potatoes & gravy, corn, green beans, cheese, coleslaw, buns, Lefse, Norwegian treats & desserts, coffee and milk. Adults are $13, children ages 6-12 are $5, children 5 and under are free. Musical entertainment will take place in the sanctuary.
19th Annual Love Lights
DARLINGTON – The 19th annual Lafayette Manor Auxiliary “Love Lights” can be purchased now through Friday, Feb. 10. For a $3 donation, dedicate a heart in memory or honor of a loved one. The hearts will be placed on a tree in the 2nd floor sunroom. A dedication will take placed Tuesday, Feb. 14 at the manor with a 5 p.m. candle light supper with music by Tom Bedtka. Homemade Cornish Pasty Sale
BELMONT – Pasties for the Homemade Cornish Pasty Sale fundraiser by the Belmont Music Department for the 2017 Brass and Brats will be made Feb. 18. Cost is $5 per pasty, payable to the Belmont Music Boosters. Pasties are uncooked and can be picked up at the school or delivered in town after 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Cooking instructions are provided with each pasty.
Community Blood Drives
LAFAYETTE COUNTY – The Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center encourages eligible donors to resolve to give blood regularly. Donors with all blood types are needed, especially those with types AB, O, B negative and A negative. For questions about eligibility, please call the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center at (800) 747-5401. To donate, please contact Sue Paquette at (608) 776-5731. Blood donation is a safe, simple procedure that takes about 45 minutes to one hour.  Individuals with diabetes or controlled high blood pressure may be accepted as eligible donors. The MVRBC is the exclusive provider to Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County.

Sewing Classes in March
BELMONT – There will be sewing classes offered at Belmont during the month of March on Tuesdays. Classes for students in grades 4-8 will be offered after school from 3:30-5:30. Possible projects are pillows, pillowcases, and small purses or for experienced students even a quilt. Classes for adults will run from 6-8 on Tuesdays in March also. There is only room for 6 or 7 people so it is first come first serve. Please sign up before Feb. 24 for both student and adult classes. Have an idea of which projects the child maybe interested in so supplies can be acquired. Please contact Kim Heinrichs at 778-0285 if interested.
McCoy Library’s Iditarod Race
SHULLSBURG – Please join the McCoy Public Library for their Iditarod Race on Feb. 24 with the program starting at 2 p.m. and the race at 3:30 p.m. 4th and 5th graders are welcome to the program. They will be building a sled with a team that will late race together. During the race students will be asked questions about the Iditarod race at checkpoints, so be sure to study your facts! Also dress appropriate for weather that day, as they will be outside. Registration forms will be available at the library.
