A project is underway to construct a splash pad in Lone Rock’s Firemen’s Park, aiming for summer 2018.

Plans are for the splash pad to be 900 square feet large, at a total cost of a little below $46,000. Royal Bank of Lone Rock providing start-up funds of $5,000.

Events are being organized to help raise funds for the project, including a Spring Green Culver’s Share Night on September 14.

On Sunday, October 1, a fundraiser will be held at Woods Bar & Grill, 320 S. Oak St., Lone Rock, from 1:00-5:00 p.m. The event will feature food and other refreshments, door prizes, meat paddles, and 50/50 drawings.

On Monday, October 16, a spaghetti dinner will be held at the Lone Rock community building, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. This event will also include door prizes and 50/50 raffles.

On the day before Thanksgiving, Wednesday, November 22, there will be a bake sale at Royal Bank in Lone Rock.

The Lone Rock community is coming together for the effort, with a commitment from Ewers Excavating for prep work, from Josh Alt for electrical work, and from Concrete Forms, all either donating their service or providing it at cost.

Jessica Herfel of Lone Rock’s Royal Bank is a primary force behind the project. She says, “With the help of many volunteers, we’re getting the cost down to make this feasible.”
