Pauline Halvorson, age 75 of rural Darlington, passed away Monday, April 10, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born Aug. 9, 1941 in Darlington the daughter of Irving “Pat” and Julia (Kendall) Nevels. Pauline graduated from Darlington High School in 1959. She was united in marriage to Clinton Halvorson on Aug. 1, 1959 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Darlington. Pauline grew up in Darlington. After her marriage to Clinton she began farming with him in Fayette Township for 52 years. She also worked seasonally at Swiss Colony in Monroe for a few years.
Pauline is survived by her husband Clinton at home; four children: Pat Halvorson of Cobb, Julie (Tim) Zasada of Platteville, Jim (Leslie) Halvorson of Columbus, and Tom (Patty) Halvorson of Neenah; 8 grandchildren: Blake, Travis, P.C., and Kyrin Halvorson, Tayna Zasada, Erica Halvorson, and Connor and Brianna Halvorson; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters: Lula Elmer and Patricia Prine.
Pauline was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Darlington and it’s Council of Catholic Women. She cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren creating memories they will remember forever. Pauline enjoyed spending her free time reading, going to the dog track, and always looked forward to cooking for her family and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, April 17, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. with a time of “family remembrances” that began at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church (104 E. Harriet Street, Darlington) where Rev. John Bosco Pudhota officiated. Burial was in Union Grove Cemetery. A visitation was held Monday, April 17, 2017 from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the church. The Erickson Funeral Home in Darlington is serving the family. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.ericksonfuneralhome.com.
