A 67-year-old Richland Center man died Friday afternoon shortly after crashing his motorcycle into a car that turned into his path without yielding on Highway 14 just east of Highway 23 in the town of Spring Green.

On Friday, June 23, at about 4:35 p.m., the Sauk County Sheriff’s Communications Center received a call of a car versus motorcycle traffic crash on USH 14 about two-tenths of a mile east of STH 23 south, in the town of Spring Green.

Sauk County Sheriff’s Deputies, Spring Green Police Officers and the Spring Green Fire and Ambulance Services were dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, Michael O’Leary was alert, conscious and answering questions. He was transported to the Spring Green Fire Department for transfer to the Medflight air transport, at which time he became unresponsive and CPR was started. O’Leary ultimately succumbed to his injuries from the crash and was pronounced deceased by the Medflight doctor.

The Plain Ambulance Service attended to the driver of the 2010 Chevy Impala at the scene. Howard J. Murphy, 83, of Spring Green, failed to yield to O’Leary’s 2000 Harley Davidson motorcycle as he turned into Prem Meats.

This traffic crash remains under investigation by the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office.

If you have information on this crash and were not spoken to at the scene by Law Enforcement, you are asked to contact the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office at 608-356-4895 reference case number 17-08384.
