GAME OF THE WEEK (July 13–19)

PREP FOOTBALL: Wisconsin Football Coaches Association All-Star Games, Saturday, July 15 (at UW-Oshkosh, Titan Stadium)

     OSHKOSH — The state’s best high school football players will gather in Oshkosh this Saturday for the 2017 Wisconsin Football Coaches Association All-Star Games.

Among those in attendance will be a number of area gridiron stars will suit up for the South in the Division 4–7 All-Star game, including recent Platteville running back Luke Fugate, Platteville defensive back Alex Traxler, Potosi linebacker Tanner Collins, Lancaster linebacker Justin Allen, Lancaster offensive lineman Larry Moore III, River Valley defensive back Elijah Alt, River Valley Ryan Wickman wide receiver, Darlington linebacker Jesse Sturtz, Shullsburg defensive back Hunter Matye, Pecatonica/Argyle wide receiver A.J. Hendrickson and Pecatonica/Argyle defensive back Logan Green.

Saturday’s WFCA Small Schools All-Star Game is this week’s McDonald’s SWNews4U.com Game of the Week.

The day will begin with an 8-man All-Star Game, which will kickoff of the festivities at 10 a.m. at UW–Oshkosh’s Titan Stadium. The Division 4-7 Small Schools All-Star Game will begin at 2 p.m., followed by the Large Schools All-Star Game (for players in Divisions 1–3), which begins at 6 p.m.

Former Platteville head coach Kyle Craig as well as Pecatonica/Argyle head coach Larry Green will be assistant coaches for the Small Schools South team. University School’s Brian Sommers is the head coach.

All of the WFCA All-Star games will be broadcast live, on television and streaming online, by Time Warner Cable Sports Channel.

Players were nominated by their high school coaches for the honor, and each year more than 400 players are nominated, with 220 chosen to take part.

In return for the honor of participating, each player raises at least $750 in funds for Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, the game’s beneficiary. In the nine year partnership, more than $3 million has been raised through the All-Star Charity Football Games

Saturday, July 15

8-Man — 10 a.m.

Small Schools (D4-7) — 2 p.m.

Large Schools (D1-3) — 6 p.m.
