Jerrett wins Lancaster club championship

Lancaster's Kile Jerrett shot a two-day 140 to win the 2017 Lancaster city men's golf tournament on July 8–9.

LANCASTER – With a two-day score of 140, Kile Jerrett was crowned the 2017 champion of the Lancaster city men’s golf tournament held on July 8-9 at the Lancaster Municipal Golf Course.

Jerrett finished two strokes ahead of Tim Farrey (142) and four strokes ahead of Darrin Wilken (144).

After the first day of competition, Jerrett held the top spot with a two-under-par round of 70 despite taking a double on the par-5 18th hole.

On the day, Jerrett picked up three birdies, five pars and one bogey on the front, and followed with three birdies, four pars, one bogey and a double on the back.

Shooting an even-par round of 72 on the first day, Tim Farrey was on the heels of Jerrett, while Darrin Wilken and Nathan Farrey each shot a 74 to join Sunday’s final grouping.

It was Wilken who got off to the hot start in Sunday’s final round with birdies on holes four and eight to go along with an eagle on seven.

After shooting a two-under-par round of 34 on the front, Wilken had moved into a tie with Jerrett, who shot a 38. Tim Farrey was one stroke behind the leaders after shooting a 37, and Nathan Farrey had fallen seven strokes behind the leaders with a 41 on the front.

Jerrett and Wilkin both birdied the par-4 10th hole and followed with pars on the 11th.

Jerrett then jumped out in front with three straight birdies on holes 12, 13 and 14, while Wilken went par, bogey, par.

Tim Farrey, who had parred the first four holes on the back nine, took birdies on holes 14 and 15, while Jerrett gave up two strokes with a bogey on the 15th.

Going into the par-3 16th, Jerrett held a two-stroke lead over Tim Farrey and a three-stroke lead over Wilken, while Nathan Farrey was now 10 strokes off the leader.

Jerrett and Tim Farrey both parred 16 and 17 and both finished with birdies on 18, while Wilken parred the final three holes.

In his final round, Jerrett picked up two birdies, four pars, one bogey and a double on the front, to go along with five birdies, three pars and just one bogey on the back.

On June 17-18, Bob Hoffman won the men’s senior club championship, finishing two strokes ahead of Tim Farrey and four strokes ahead of Darin Wilken.

In a two-person lady’s club championship tournament on July 8, Linda Miller shot an 18-hole score of 78 to win the title and finish one stroke ahead of Dawn Snider.
