Karen Schroeder and Bernard Averkamp were married at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Galena, Ill. on Nov. 24, 1962.
They have two children, Kathy (Jeremy) Wild and Mark (Sue) Averkamp. The couple also have a grandson, Cole Wild; two step-grandchildren, Corey and Nicole Cullen; and a step-great-granddaughter, Abby Cullen.
Bernard and Karen Averkamp will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a family gathering at a future date.
