PLATTEVILLE — Scouts and their parents, leaders and the UW–Platteville Alpha Phi Omega organization combined their efforts for the annual Scouting for Food Drive in November.
Scouts and students dropped leaflets and then collected 1,745 items of nonperishable food on Nov. 10 to help feed the needy of the Platteville community.
Girl Scouts from Troops 5273, 5285, and 5111 of the Girl Scouts of Wisconsin Badger Land Council and Boy Scouts from Troops 82 and 84 and Cub Scouts from Packs 83 and 89 of the Blackhawk Area Council participate annually in this joint community service project to assist the Platteville Food Pantry, located at Lutheran Church of Peace, to carry out their mission of assisting low-income families and individuals in the Platteville School District with supplemental nutritional food and nutrition education.
The Food Pantry is open the third Thursday of the month from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and other Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
