Producers now have until Jan. 15 to report crops that had a 2014 crop reporting date on Oct. 1, 2013 through Dec. 31, 2013, to the U.S. Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency without paying late-filing fees.

Wisconsin crops included are winter wheat, winter rye, and perennial forages including but not limited to native and improved grasses intended for haying or grazing. Producers should still check with their crop insurance agent for deadlines that may apply to their insured crops.

In order to comply with FSA program eligibility requirements, all producers in Grant County are encouraged to visit the FSA office to file an accurate crop certification report by the applicable deadline.

Other Wisconsin upcoming 2014 acreage reporting dates:
Jan. 2: Honey.
Feb. 1: Maple sap.
July 15: All spring-seeded and all other crops.

The following exceptions apply to the above acreage reporting dates:

•    2014 perennial forages that have an intended use of green manure, a cover crop or are to be left standing do not need to be reported until July 15. If a perennial forage crop is reported with the intended use of “cover only,” “green manure,” “left standing,” or “seed,” then the acreage must be reported by July 15.

•    If the crop has not been planted by the above acreage reporting date, then the acreage must be reported no later than 15 calendar days after planting is completed.

•    If a producer acquires additional acreage after the above acreage reporting date, then the acreage must be reported no later than 30 calendars days after purchase or acquiring the lease. Appropriate documentation must be provided to the county office.

Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program policy holders should note that the acreage reporting date for NAP covered crops is the earlier of the dates listed above or 15 calendar days before grazing or harvesting of the crop begins.

Late file fees will be assessed for 2014 for crops with a crop reporting deadlines after Dec. 31 if the crops are not reported timely.
