Fresh produce workshop in Hillsboro Feb. 25

The University of Wisconsin-Extension Vegetable Production Team, along with the Vernon County UW Extension Office, will be hosting the 11th Annual Fresh Market Produce Workshop  Feb. 25 at the Hillsboro Firemen’s Community Center.

This workshop will have information and tips for both organic and conventional growers.

Topics and speakers at the workshop will include:

• “Integrated Management of Key Cucurbit Diseases and Outlook for 2014” by  Dr. Amanda Gevens, UW-Extension Plant Pathologist

• “Integrated Management of Common Insect Pests in Cucurbit Crops and Outlook for 2014” with Dr. Russ Groves , UW Extension Entomologist.

• “Enterprise Budgets and Cash Flow Planning” with Paul Dietman, Badgerland Financial

• “Sprayers, Spraying and Calibration” with Dan Heider, UW-Extension Integrated Pest Management Specialist.

The workshop will start with registration at 9:30 a.m. Presentations will begin at 10 a.m. and adjourn at approximately 3 p.m.

There is a $10 person registration fee to cover program expenses.  Participants will receive a copy of the 2014 UW Extension publication “Commercial Vegetable Production in Wisconsin.” Lunch will be compliments of Badgerland Financial.

Pre-registration is required and can be done by contacting the Vernon County Extension Office at 608-637-5276. Please pre-register by Feb. 21 for planning purposes.
