The Platteville Downtown Redevelopment Authority will host a public open house on “parking challenges in the downtown area of Platteville” in the Mound City Bank Motor Branch Community Room,  90 S. Second St., Monday, June 18 at 5:30 p.m.

The open house is being conducted “in advance of developing any proposal/s as related to parking in the downtown area,” according to a Redevelopment Authority email sent by District 3 Ald. Barb Daus, chair of the RDA.

“The Redevelopment Authority Board is encouraging our Downtown Business Community to come up with our own plan and present it to the Board,” said Lori Erschen-Bahr of Erschen’s Florists in an email to downtown businesses. “The end result will be a reccommendation to our Common Council with a decision using Platteville Business Community proposed plan, survey results, and Redevopment Authority Board proposed plan.

“This process is very important for our Downtown Business Community. We need your help to gather the information needed and your ideas to present a great proposed plan that will benefit our Downtown.”

Downtown business people, downtown property owners and downtown residents are especially encouraged to attend, but all are welcome.

The June 18 meeting was scheduled after a June 4 meeting between downtown businesses and the RDA. The RDA’s authority is bounded by Elm Street, Furnace Street, Broadway Street and Alden Avenue.
