POTOSI — TDS Telecommunications Corp. announced its American Recovery and Reinvestment Act stimulus-funded broadband Internet project around Potosi is now accessible to some residents.
Construction on the stimulus-funded project should wrap up by the end of the year. Once complete, about 500 area residents will have access to a high-speed Internet connection.
TDS is installing about 8½ miles of fiber optics cabling and nine cabinets (which protect the advanced network electronics) are being placed throughout TDS’ Farmers Telephone Co. to provide high-speed Internet access to more residents.
