Tourism Council to meet Jan. 23

The Grant County Tourism Council will meet at the Platteville Chamber of Commerce, 275 W. Business 151, Wednesday, Jan. 23 from 10 a.m. to noon.

GCTC meets the fourth Wednesday of the month, hosted by various Grant County communities throughout the year. The March meeting is held in conjunction with the Governor’s Conference on Tourism. The November meeting is the annual meeting with election of officers and holiday pot luck lunch; there is no meeting held in December.

GCTC 2013 officers include President Linda Parrish, Vice President Brian Stuart, Past President Kathy Kopp, Secretary Darlene Mickelson and Treasurer Denise Tolzman.

GCTC’s marketing efforts include county tourism websites www.grantcounty.org and www.grantcountywisconsin.com.    Projects and events pending include the Hogs Gone Wild Fan Fest in Dubuque Feb. 22–23, the Great River Road River Festival at Stonefield June 15 to highlight the Great River Road’s 75th Anniversary, and the Grant County Photo Contest, which provides many of the photos for the travel planner, website and Wisconsin Department of Tourism’s photo library.
