151 enforcement intensifying

Members of Highway 151 Corridor Enforcement will conduct a multijurisdictional enforcement operation on U.S. 151 through September.

Platteville police, the Grant and Lafayette county sheriff’s departments, and other sheriff’s and police departments along the 151 corridor will focus on violations that contribute to traffic crashes.

Aggressive driver behavior on 151 from the Wisconsin–Iowa border northeast to Dodge County has made it evident that “additional proactive traffic law enforcement would be beneficial,” according to a Wisconsin Department of Transportation news release. Incidents prompting heightened enforcement include aggressive and distracted driving.

“It is hoped that by providing a visible law enforcement presence on these roads, drivers will become more aware of their driving habits and behaviors and make the appropriate corrections to be safer,” WisDOT said in a news release.
