Arrests, charges follow traffic stops

A 27-year-old Platteville man faces five charges after a traffic stop early Friday morning.

Matthew J. Becker faces charges of operating while intoxicated, operating after suspension, operating after revoked or suspended registration, operating a motor vehicle without liability insurance, and operating a motor vehicle without two headlights.

Becker was stopped by Platteville police for having a headlight out on Cedar Street and Fourth Street just after midnight.

•         Three women were cited after a traffic stop at Main Street and Elm Street early Saturday morning.

Police stopped a car driven by Taylor Kathleen Stanley, 19, Platteville, for having a headlight out around 12:30 a.m. Police noticed an odor of intoxicants, and all three people in the car admitted to having consumed alcohol.

Stanley was cited for violation of absolute sobriety and operating a motor vehicle without two headlights. Her passengers, Yasmin D. Fernandez Nespral, 19, Loves Park, Ill., and Krista N. Bartelson, 20, Machesney Park, Ill., were cited for underage drinking.

•         Five people were cited after a traffic stop at Main Street and Ellen Street early Saturday morning.

A Grant County sheriff’s deputy stopped a car driven by Quinn Buschbacher, 19, Sugar Grove, Ill., around 1:45 a.m.

Buschbacher was arrested for first-offense drunk driving and cited for minor transporting intoxicants. Underage drinking tickets were issued to Alexander Johnson, 18, West Milan, Ill.; Andrew Essex, 19, Sugar Grove, Ill.; Bryan VanBogaert, 19, Elburn, Ill.; and Joseph Cozzi, 19, Sugar Grove, Ill.

•         A traffic stop resulted in an arrest for a warrant early Sunday.

Police stopped a car driven by Jeremy M. Williamson, 19, Platteville, at Court Street and Adams Street around 2:45 a.m.

Williamson was cited for failure to stop at a stop sign.

One of Williamson’s passengers, Anna M. Burgess, 19, Platteville, was arrested on a warrant on an underage drinking citation.
