Drunk driver hits utility pole

A 21-year-old man crashed the truck he was driving into a utility pole in alley off of South Railroad Street in Gays Mills on Sunday, Aug. 26 at approximately 5:15 a.m., according to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department.

Derek W. Mullikin, a Gays Mills resident, was driving a 2002 Chevrolet S10 pickup truck eastbound in the alley when he struck the utility pole on the south side of the alley, the sheriff’s department reported.

Mullkin left the scene and was found walking toward the fairgrounds. Mullikin was under the influence of alcohol, according to the sheriff’s department. He claimed no injuries from the crash. The vehicle received severe damage.

Mullikin will be cited for operating under the influence, according to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department.
