An Elroy man was injured and cited for drunk driving Nov. 8 as a result of a car versus farm machinery crash on Hwy. 71 in Monroe County.

Sheriff Scott Perkins said a car driven by 61-year-old Vincent Newman was eastbound on Highway 71 when he ran into a farm tractor pulling a grain wagon. The tractor was operated by a 14-year old from rural Wonewoc.

Newman was transported by ambulance to Gundersen St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hillsboro with non-life threatening injuries. The youth was not injured in the crash.

Perkins said Newman was cited for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.

The crash remains under investigation.
