One traffic stop, one arrest, five citations

One person was arrested and another cited after a traffic stop on U.S. 151 in the Town of Belmont Saturday afternoon.

Ryder D. Anderson, 26, Tacoma, Wash., was arrested for possession of marijuana, according to the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department.

Anderson was also cited for operating without a valid driver’s license, no proof of insurance, and failure to merge to an emergency vehicle.

In addition, Kyle E. Bearden, 21, New Glarus, was cited for operating after a valid driver’s license and failure to merge to an emergency vehicle.

Anderson and Bearden were stopped around 2:30 p.m., according to the sheriff’s department.

•    U.S. 151 might be a bad place to violate traffic laws. Sheriff’s deputies issued 25 tickets on 151 in the Town of Belmont Friday between 12:53 p.m. and 5:02 p.m. Of those 25 tickets, 20 were for speeding, two each were for having no insurance and failiing to yield to emergency vehicles, and one was for not wearing seat belts.
