Phillip L. Hickok, 79 of Ferryville, went into a ditch after successfully swerving to miss a tractor pulling a gravity box on County N near Bishop Road in Vernon County’s Sterling Township on Nov. 4.

Hickok was attempting to pass the tractor, which was turning left into a private drive as he was passing.

Tri-State Ambulance transported Hickok to Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse. He was wearing his seatbelt at the time.

Assisting the Vernon County Sheriff’s Department were the Wheatland Fire Department, Wheatland First Responders and Tri-State Ambulance.

The accident remains under investigation.
