Platteville man charged with stealing from his church

The president of a Platteville church council faces theft charges for allegedly stealing from his church.

Mark L. Mandurano, 35, 1365 Cody Parkway apartment 204, was charged with one count of felony theft, one misdemeanor count of theft in a business setting, and 10 counts of misdemeanor theft.

According to Platteville police, $17,250 was taken from two accounts of Lutheran Church of Peace without authorization since February.

Mandurano was arrested Nov. 9, and, according to police, “admitted to making unauthorized withdrawals from one of the accounts and using the money for personal reasons.”

Mandurano faces 3½ years in prison and $10,000 in fines on the felony theft charge, and nine months in jail and $10,000 fines on each of the misdemeanor charges.
