PLATTEVILLE — Platteville police are investigating a sexual assault and a strongarm robbery that took place last week.
The sexual assault occurred Monday, Sept. 3. A “young woman” reported she was walking home at night from a gathering when she was sexually assaulted, according to police.
The woman was unable to provide police a description of the suspect, according to police.
The police news release said the department “wants our community, especially our female population, to take the appropriate safety precautions when walking outside at night.”
The strongarm robbery occurred near the Washington Street–Union Street intersection Aug. 31 around 9:30 p.m.
The victim told police that a vehicle drove up to him and the vehicle’s passenger yelled at him to “give them his money.” When the man refused, the passenger got out of the car and took his money.
The victim turned down medical attention, according to police.
The passenger is described as a clean-shaven white male about 22 years old. The driver is described only as a white male. The vehicle is described as a blue Chevrolet Aveo.
