PLATTEVILLE — A Platteville woman was the target of an attempted telephone scam twice in the past six weeks.
The first caller, in October, said, “‘This is your daughter, Heather.’ Well, I don’t have a daughter named Heather,” the woman said.
On Wednesday, the woman received a call that said “You know who this is, don’t you?” When she said she didn’t, the caller answered, “Well, it’s your favorite grandson, but I have a cold.”
The woman does have a grandson, but he lives in Platteville.
The woman concluded the calls were scams because of “the fact they hang up instantly when I wouldn’t go along with them.”
Anyone who receives a scam call should contact local law enforcement.
