Dean Ubersox, 52, of Shullsburg, has been charged with two counts of repeated sexual assault of a child and was arraigned in Lafayette County Circuit Court on Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2014.
According to the criminal complaint, Ubersox was arrested on Oct. 6, 2014 by Shullsburg Police after investigations revealed that Ubersox had been having sexual relations with a now-16-year-old female from Shullsburg, off and on since around March of 2013.
Shullsburg Police first became aware of the situation on Sept. 25, 2014 when the department received an anonymous complaint that Ubersox was having sexual relations with the female minor.
Court documents indicated that the relationship began on Facebook, before the two began meeting at Ubersox’s residence after about a month or two of the initial contact.
The charge of repeated sexual assault of a child is a Class C felony and if convicted, Ubersox could face up to a $100,000 fine and/or 40 years in prison for each count.
Ubersox will next appear in court on March 25 at 1 p.m. for a motion hearing before Judge James Beer, who was assigned to the case after Ubersox’s attorney, Robert Duxstad filed a request for substitution of judge.
