Texas man suffers life-threatening injuries in cycle accident

A Texas man was injured Aug. 5 in a motorcycle accident in Bergen township.

Bruce Gunhus, 58, of Fort Worth, Tex., was taken to Gundersen Health Systems in La Crosse with life-threatening injuries following the accident, which occurred at 12:19 p.m.  on Hwy. 35, just north of Spring Coulee Rd.

According to a press release from the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office in Viroqua, Gunhus lost control as he pulled off the highway. The cycle overturned onto its side and ejected Gunhus, who was not wearing a helmet.

The cycle came to rest in the ditch along Hwy. 35.

Assisting the Sheriff Office’s at the scene was the Stoddard-Bergen Fire Department and First Responders, Tri-State Ambulance and Med-Link Air.

The accident remains under investigation.
