Three defendants in drug raid convicted after pleas

Three of the defendants in the May 2 Platteville drug raid were convicted of charges in Grant County Circuit Court in Lancaster.

Michael J. DePons, 21, Platteville, pleaded guilty July 17 to one count of manufacture or delivery of THC. The other two counts DePons faced were dismissed. DePons is scheduled to be sentenced July 30.

Michael G. Sahs, 22, Winfield, Ill., pleaded no contest July 17 to one count to manufacture or delivery of THC. The other two counts Sahs faced were dismissed but read into the court record. Sahs is scheduled to be sentenced Aug. 21.
Chelsey M. Austin, 21, Platteville, pleaded guilty June 18 to a charge of possessing drug paraphernalia and paid a fine of $631.

Four other defendants are having plea and sentencing hearings on their charges in August.

A plea and sentencing hearing has been scheduled for Aug. 6 for Ashley K. Kloss, 22, Platteville, on one count of possession of marijuana and four counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, all misdemeanors.

Aug. 6 will also be a plea and sentencing hearing for Craig A. Wilson, 21, Madison, on three counts of manufacture or delivery of marijuana.

A plea and sentencing hearing also has been scheduled for Aug. 6 for Nicholas R. Rosenthal, 21, Galena, on one count of manufacture or delivery of cocaine.

A plea and sentencing hearing has been scheduled for Aug. 15 for Daniel Jz Panella, 22, Oconomowoc, on a manufacture or delivery charge and a charge of possession with intent to deliver marijuana.

The other defendants still are on track to go to trial on their charges.

The trial of Ian D. Erickson, 21, Platteville, on one count of manufacture or delivery of marijuana, one count of possession of marijuana and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia, is scheduled for July 31. A status conference and motion hearing was held July 19.

A status conference will be held July 30 for Kamal T. Abdelrahim, 22, Milwaukee, on one count of manufacture or delivery of marijuana.

The trial of Troy J. Frederick, 20, Eau Claire, on three counts of manufacture or delivery of marijuana is scheduled for July 31, with jury selection July 30.

A jury trial is scheduled for the week of July 31 for Ross A. Kopiske, 22, Larsen, on one count of manufacture or delivery of marijuana.

A status conference will be held Aug. 1 for Ryan Bailey Whitehead, 21, New Glarus, on four counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, and one count each of possession of amphetamines or LSD, possession of an illegally prescribed prescription, and possession of marijuana.

A jury trial is scheduled for the week of Aug. 7 for Andrew J. Fells, 24, Platteville, on one count of manufacture or delivery of marijuana.

A motion hearing is scheduled for July 30 for Peter A. Wycklendt, 21, Waukesha, who faces three counts of manufacture or delivery of marijuana. Wycklendt’s trial date is scheduled for Sept. 7.

A status conference will be held Aug. 1 for Jared A. Otto, 20, Brookfield, on three counts of manufacture or delivery of marijuana.

Status conferences will be held Aug. 14 for Gregory J. Becker, 22, Hales Corners, Wesley L. Ertmer, 21, Platteville, Cole Douglas Durdan, 21, Platteville, and Randall R. Runge, 23, Walworth, who face three charges each of manufacture or delivery of marijuana.

A status conference will be held Aug. 29 for Natalie Rose Costello-Mikecz, 21, Milwaukee, on two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and one count of possession of amphetamines or LSD.

A status conference will be held Sept. 11 for Ryan L. Schlosser, 22, Skokie, Ill., on one count of manufacture or delivery of marijuana.

The arrests were the result of a 10-month-long investigation by the Richland–Iowa–Grant Drug Task Force that included drug sales to undercover officers between June 1 and April 11.

The raids and arrests were conducted by Platteville, Dodgeville and Richland Center police; UW–Platteville police; the Grant, Iowa and Richland county sheriff’s departments; and the state Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation.
