Woman target of scam attempt by fake Publishers Clearing House
Placeholder Image

A Platteville woman found out she had won $2.6 million from Publishers Clearing House.

The woman became suspicious when she was asked to call PCH with bank account information so the check could be deposited into her account.

The PCH “notice” has a winning number of 383708. The winner is asked to call “Claims Agent” “Ben Lawson” at 1-888-542-4830.

The real Publishers Clearing House told the woman it employs no one named “Ben Lawson,” and doesn’t use that toll free number.

Anyone who suspects a similar scam should call Platteville police, 348-2313, or the Grant County Sheriff’s Department, 723-2157.
