The Boscobel School Board approved the school calendar for 2017-2018 as recommended by the district’s calendar committee Tuesday night.

The calendar will reduce Parent-Teacher conferences to one per year, which provoked some comment.

Special Education Director Amy Mezera questioned the change, saying she was under the impression that the teachers wanted two P-T conferences.

“The committee is saying that this is what they want,” District Administrator Greg Bell replied.

In defense of the decision, Bell noted that teachers are encouraged to contact parents when students are having trouble sooner, rather than later.

“If we aren’t telling parents that we are having problems until then (February), then we have a problem,” Bell said.
