The UW–Platteville Department of Residence Life gave the students who live in the 11 residence halls the opportunity to submit suggestions of names for the new residence hall and dining facility that is being built next to Southwest Hall.

The Department of Residence Life was asked to suggest names for the new residence hall and dining facility, and the department turned to their residents for suggestions.

Last month, two names from each residence hall were submitted to Jennifer Artz, administrative services coordinator for the Department of Residence Life. One name from each hall was chosen from the list and a poll was created, giving all students living in residence halls the opportunity to choose a name they liked best.

The winning name that was chosen was Bridgeway Commons and was submitted on behalf of the Department of Residence Life.

“It’s really nice to have a working partnership with the Real Estate Foundation and we’re glad they wanted our students’ input in the naming,” said Artz. “The name of Bridgeway Commons was chosen in early October and approved to be the official name of the new residence hall.

The new residence hall will hold approximately 440 beds and will have a 500-seat dining facility. The hall is expected to be completed for the 2013 fall semester.
