DEMS participates in solo ensemble

On Saturday, March 7, seventh and eighth grade students from Darlington Elementary/Middle School kicked off Music in Our Schools Month by participating in 41 events at the SWAL Conference Middle School Solo/Ensemble Festival at Mineral Point High School.  

Students performed in individual and small group instrumental and vocal events and were judged on several areas of their performances.   The following are the results of this year’s festival.

Students receiving first place ratings in Class B events were: Riley Jones, vocal solo; Olivia Schulte, vocal solo; Kalee Meyers, vocal solo; Victoria Roosa, vocal solo; Allison Thompson, flute solo; Ashley Carns and Lainee McLennan, clarinet duet; Lucy Heinberg, vocal solo; McKenna Leuchtenmacher, vocal solo;  Daniel Maurer, snare drum solo; Ashley Carns, clarinet solo; Analisa Nethery, vocal solo; Alex Reuter, trumpet solo; Payton Heinberg, vocal solo; and Aliyah Gould, vocal solo.

Students receiving second place ratings in Class B were: Michelle Meylor, vocal solo and piano solo; Miles Carper, trombone solo; Mataya Plenkers, vocal solo; McKenna Leuchtenmacher, flute solo; and Jada Glendenning, trombone solo.
Students receiving a first place rating in Class C were: Miles Carper, Wyatt Raymond, Zoe Nodorft, Alex Reuter, and Analisa Nethery, brass quintet; Willie Riechers and Ian Wolfe, saxophone duet;  Ryley Lancaster and Anna Carper, trumpet duet;  Ian Wolfe, alto saxophone solo; Ashley Carns, tenor saxophone solo; Carter Wiegel, alto saxophone solo; Wyatt Raymond, tuba solo;  Paige Thuli and Chloe Muhlstein, flute/saxophone duet; Lucy Heinberg, flute solo; Lainee McLennan, clarinet solo; Aliyah Gould, snare drum solo; Willie Riechers, Chloe Muhlstein, Ian Wolfe, Barry Schliem, Payton Heinberg, Ashley Carns, and Carter Wiegel, saxophone choir; Barry Schliem, Aliyah Gould, Michelle Meylor, and Ryley Lancaster, vocal quartet; Riley Jones and Payton Heinberg, vocal duet. 

Students receiving second place ratings in Class C were: Bethany McDonald, Paige Thuli, Chloe Muhlstein, Kathleen Mathias, Francesca Morrone, Olivia Schulte, Casey Glendenning, Lucy Heinberg, and Kalee Meyers, vocal double trio; Arielle Vick and Lizzie Schwartz, oboe/flute duet; Allison Thompson, piano solo; Michelle Meylor, snare drum solo; Blake Jones, snare drum solo; McKenna Leuchtenmacher, Analisa Nethery, and Mataya Plenkers, vocal trio; Ashley Carns, Daniel Maurer, Blake Jones, Aliyah Gould, Jada Glendenning, and Michelle Meylor, percussion ensemble.
