Plans for school orientation and open house at Darlington Elementary Middle School were recently announced.

Students and parents are encouraged to attend a combination orientation and open house on Thursday, Aug. 27.  Students in grades K-4 are invited to visit anytime between 4:00-6:00 p.m. Staff will be available to take grade K-4 students new to the district on a tour of the building from 4:00-4:20 p.m. and 5:15-6:00 p.m. Class lists will be posted in respective wings, and students are invited to bring school supplies to place in their new classrooms.

Any new 5th-8th grade students who have scheduling questions or would like a tour of the building are invited to stop in the guidance office at 4:00 p.m.  A special orientation session will be held in the gymnasium for grades 5-8 from 4:30-5:15 p.m.  Following a brief presentation, students will be introduced to staff.  After reviewing schedules, students will be able to locate homerooms, classrooms, and lockers.   Students in grades 5-8 who are unable to attend orientation will receive their schedules on Sept. 1.

Parents are invited to stop in the office to deposit funds in students’ electronic lunch accounts, as well as any required fees, beginning Monday, Aug. 17.  Students in grades 4K-4 are assessed a $5.00 book fee and students in grades 5-8 are assessed a $10.00 book fee.

Students in grades K-8 also have the option of purchasing a $10.00 athletic card.  This card admits students to all regular season athletic events for the 2015-16 school year.  Assignments books will also be available for purchase for students in grades 4-8.  Separate family checks for lunch, assignment books, and fees are requested.
