Four from Platteville to perform in Madison this week

Mattea Scanlan Concert Band bassoon

Four Platteville High School students will perform with the Wisconsin School Music Association High School State Honors ensemble at the Overture Center in Madison today and Thursday.

Mattea Scanlan and Rachael Demaree will play bassoon with the Concert Band, Danielle Dillon will play string bass with the Orchestra, and Arianna Day will sing soprano with the Mixed Choir.

The students completed a rigorous audition in February, rehearsed for three days in June, and will perform under the direction of nationally acclaimed conductors Thursday evening.

Since the inception of the WSMA High School State Honors program in 1969, Platteville High School has had selected musicians all but three years.
