Ninety-one Platteville High School music students and 16 adults will travel to Nashville April 9–13 for a performance and cultural trip. The Concert Band, Orchestra, Choralaires, and Cantorum will have performance clinics at Belmont University. Other trip highlights will include seeing performances of “Pirates of Penzance” and the Grand Ole Opry; tours of the Country Music Hall of Fame, Andrew Jackson’s estate (The Hermitage), RCA Studio B, and the backstage of the Grand Ole Opry; and a Cumberland River cruise aboard the General Jackson showboat. The Platteville Music Boosters funded travel grants for students with financial need. A Fiesta Fundraiser, pasta sales, cheesecakes sales, and Chip Shoppe sales were held to raise funds. The Nashville trip leaders are PHS Music Staff Owen Strizic, orchestra; Nancy Fairchild, band; and Amelia Armstrong, choir.
