On April 13 the Platteville High School Science Olympiad team traveled to UW–Milwaukee to compete in the State Science Olympiad.
The Science Olympiad competition consists of 23 team events in genetics, earth science, chemistry, anatomy, physics, geology, mechanical engineering and technology. Some of the events consist of an exam; others require the team to build a device entered into the competition.
PHS student Angela Drefcinski placed third in Disease Detectives, and the team of Laurel Barnet, Tessa Collins and Sophie Burton placed third in Experimental Design. Laurel and Jonah Barnet placed fourth in Mystery Engineering and in Elastic Launch Glider. The team placed 14th overall.
Several faculty from UW–Platteville coached the team.
