School Board prepares for annual budget meeting
Deficit down to $86,000

The Boscobel School Board held a special meeting Monday night for the purpose of reviewing and approving the unaudited 2016-2017 budget to presentation at the annual meeting on Oct. 25.

While numbers remained close to those presented at the board meeting in September, some numbers were updated, leaving the district with anticipated 2016-2017 budget numbers of:

Revenue: $9,816,877

Expenses: $9,902,851

Deficit: $85,947

Fund Balance: $1,759,217.33 (17.92% of expenditures.

District Administrator Greg Bell reminded the board that the district had a much lower deficit last year than initially expected. He credited much of that to the work of last year’s administrative team – Steve Wacker, Crystal Brown, Heather Breunig, and Carol Dyer – along with having some budgeted expenses that did not occur or came in at less than expected....

Annual meeting

Following a discussion of microphones and procedures to ensure people are heard at the annual meeting, it was confirmed that the annual meeting would be held in the middle/high school cafeteria on Tuesday, Oct. 25. The budget hearing will begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by the annual meeting at 7:00, and the regular meeting of the Boscobel School Board at 7:30....
