UWP student takes over Twitter

“Our goal is to find many ways to explain how UW institutions empower people to succeed in work and life,” said Dave Giroux, public information officer for the University of Wisconsin System, about part of the “Knowledge Powers Wisconsin” campaign that will give UW System students, faculty and alumni control of the @UWPowersMe Twitter account.

Administration of the account will switch off between UW campuses each week, allowing for a variety of voices to be heard and engaging the @UWPowersMe audience with diverse slices of UW life from around the state.

Jamie Procarione, a UW–Platteville sophomore elementary education major from Kenosha, was the first student from the 13 four-year institutions to take over the Twitter account on Monday.

“Our students, alumni, faculty and staff have many compelling stories to share about their UW experience, and this Twitter account is one fun way to give them a platform,” said Giroux. “We hope people across the state will engage in this conversation.”
