UW–Platteville chancellor Dennis Shields will not become the next president of Wright State University.

Shields announced in a campuswide email Friday that he is withdrawing his name from Wright State’s presidential search.

“I am honored to have been a finalist because that reflects well on all the outstanding academic endeavors taking place at UW-Platteville,” said Shields in the email. “I am committed to implementing the initiatives outlined in the State of the University address. I look forward to remaining at UW–Platteville to see these transformative strategies put into practice.”

Shields has been the UWP chancellor since 2010. He was a finalist for the presidency of Chicago State University in late 2015.
