Plattevilles first Derby Day May 2

The Platteville Regional Chamber’s Business Promotions Committee is partnering with Nick Pease, owner of Nick’s Bar on Second Street and The Local Beer and Spirits on Main Street, to present the first Derby Day Saturday, May 2.

Derby Day will kick off National Tourism Week May 2–9.

The event will take place in downtown Platteville in the parking lots south of the Police Station. An all-horse parade will take place at noon on a route from Oak Street at Main Street north to Mineral Street, left on Mineral Street, left on Bonson Street, left on Main Street and right on Oak Street.

A parade registration form is available at the chamber office on West Business 151 and online at www.platteville.com.
Following the parade, live music will be played at Nick’s beginning at 1 p.m., including Adam Bartels, Wheel House, Big Whiskey and headliner Dylan Scott.

The event will include food, games (including a horse auction and pools that will benefit local charities), a costume/hat contest and a big screen showing of the Kentucky Derby.

This event is geared for ages 18 and older. Tickets are $15 at the gate ($10 in advance) and available at Nick’s Bar and the Platteville Regional Chamber office.
